HOUSE DIRENNI

Balfiera · the Iliac Bay · Skyrim, 4E 211

The oldest elven house
still standing.

A trading house of Skyrim, seated in the shadow of the Adamantine Tower. The family ruled a province from that tower once. It rules nothing now. We produce, we trade, and we serve no faction on this continent.

Three thousand years on Balfiera

The family ruled High Rock from the Adamantine Tower on Balfiera, an island in the Iliac Bay older than the Empire itself. Clan Direnni is the oldest elven house still standing on Tamriel. The House keeps the Tower. It does not own it.

Altmer, not Dominion

The Direnni have never answered to Alinor, and the Thalmor regard them as a failed house that went native. The Direnni regard the Thalmor as new money. Alinor has no claim on Balfiera.

The Dumonte of Gavaudon

An old Breton house in Stormhaven, central High Rock, with documented Direnni blood. They keep the name Dumonte. They do not become Kin of the Tower by marriage, oath, or service.

We produce and we trade.

Fixed public prices, one open ledger, trade with all, weekly clearing of debts between members. Lineage does not transfer.

Who the house answers to

The Direnni Bank

The Direnni Bank is the Heir of Balfiera's, opened in Skyrim. Accounts for holds, businesses and individuals; deposits, withdrawals, internal transfers, interest accrued daily, and a statement that shows who moved what and when. Your business is done in person: a banker opens a counter session, you accept it, and outside a session the Bank is shut — which is what a bank is.

Direnni Bazaar

The Direnni Bazaar is a house market under the Direnni Bank.

A clerk admits a person before they may see the board or place an order.

A person may post a buy order or a sell order in whole septims.

An order rests until it is filled or cancelled.

A buy that meets a sell is filled at the Bazaar.

Septims may be paid from a Direnni Bank account or handed to the clerk.

Goods are handed to the clerk with a sell order, and collected from the clerk when a buy is filled.

Skyrim, 4E 211

The Dragon Crisis and the civil war are both over. Recovery is not assured.

The house, briefly

  1. Three thousand years

The family rules High Rock from the Adamantine Tower on Balfiera — an island in the Iliac Bay older than the Empire itself. The House keeps the Tower. It does not own it.

  2. 1E 482

Aiden Direnni breaks the Alessian invasion at Glenumbra Moors. That is the one war. It is history. It is not a title, a branch name, or a present-day faction.

  3. The intermarriage

They marry into the humans of High Rock so thoroughly that their descendants become the Bretons. Among those lines stands the Dumonte of Gavaudon.

  4. The withdrawal

Mainland rule passes to Breton vassals. The Direnni withdraw to their island. Ryain, Aiden, and Raven are of that history. We won one war and have avoided every one since.

  5. 4E 211

The Heir of Balfiera is in Skyrim. He keeps the ledger and must earn the keeping. The House is here because a market is open, and it trades with everyone at one public price.
